Transportation Technology Company Swisspod to Build Hyperloop Test Facility in Colorado | New
Swiss-US transportation technology company Swisspod has announced the development and construction of a new hyperloop testing facility in Pueblo, Colorado. This initiative follows the construction by Swisspod of the first operational test track in Europe in July.
Swisspod has partnered with TTCI, a subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads (AAR), to create the company’s second test facility, which will be located at PuebloPlex, a 15,000-acre commercial and industrial complex in 15 miles from Pueblo. TTCI will provide technical information, operational support and a test plan. As stated in TTCI’s press release, “This partnership advances Swisspod’s global expansion strategy, fueling its rapid growth in the key US market, while increasing important research and testing capabilities.”
In April, TTCI announced its partnership with the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation (PEDCO) to develop a dedicated engineering and laboratory facility that would include research into hyperloop technologies.
“Our partnership with Swisspod is the first of many opportunities to extend our legacy as a leader in transportation research,” said Kari Gonzales, Acting CEO of TTCI. “Our team’s experience in performance testing and our ability to shorten the product development cycle is unmatched in North America.
The development of this new test facility also marks a major step forward for southern Colorado’s vision to become an innovative transportation technology hub.
“Pueblo and southern Colorado have long been home to the nation’s most important rail research,” said Jeff Shaw, CEO of PEDCO. “The partnership with Swisspod extends this heritage and consolidates our place as innovators in transport. Maintaining our thriving and forward-looking research base is a top priority that pays countless dividends across our community. ”
