Parents have the ability to see their student’s bus location in real time by downloading the app to their smartphones.

KILLEEN, Texas – Killeen ISD has launched a transportation app for parents to track their children’s bus ride.

Edward Thomas, district transportation director, said parents have the ability to see their student’s bus location in real time by downloading the app to their smartphones.

“It’s just another ability to keep them involved,” Thomas said.

Parents can customize the zones and activate push notifications so they can see where the bus is coming from, where it is going, where it is stopping, and they can get information on traffic delays.

“A student wants to know if it’s raining, is the bus on time or will I have to get wet for a little while? Well, you’re going to get a push notification depending on the size of their radius to say hello the bus is in your neighborhood, so now it’s time to head to the bus stop, ”Thomas said.

The mobile application is called EDULOG Parent Portal Lite. Each campus has a registration code and once the app is installed you can even change the language from English to Spanish.

“I use it, and my student, she knows what time her bus arrives in her neighborhood.” Thomas said, “So she knows if she watches this cartoon, she knows her closing time.”

Thomas wants to encourage all parents to download the mobile app, not only to keep track of your student, but also to make sure they don’t miss the bus.

This week, KISD campuses will send registration codes to parents.
