Langda Chea, the founder of BookMeBus, a Cambodian start-up, says: “Because we meet the needs of travelers, transparent solutions are ready for everyone. People don’t have to converse with strangers just to get a ticket.
“BookMeBus users only spend a few minutes getting their tickets with a guaranteed seat and instant confirmation. Plus, users don’t need a high level of digital or technological knowledge to get started.
Chea, 29, with a Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology from the Royal University of Phnom Penh and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the Institute of Foreign Languages, is himself a frequent traveler. by bus.
Before starting BookMeBus, he found it very difficult to secure a seat on a bus during the Khmer New Year to visit his parents.
“Travel shouldn’t be a problem, and with the adoption of this technology, people can purchase their tickets remotely with secure seats and proper information on board. In addition, the integration of technology also facilitates the daily work of operators and expands their activity, ”he says.
In 2015, Chea and four others founded BookMeBus with the goal of creating a digital ecosystem for the transportation and travel industry in Southeast Asia.
Prior to launch, he worked as a software engineer for eight years with a solid background in cloud data technology.
“We want to build and develop the ecosystem around transport in ASEAN countries with a powerful base management and distributed systems,” he said.
BookMeBus has grown from a web-based system for domestic travel to a global distribution system that helps partners achieve sales across the world through international travel websites.
“With our rapid growth as a technology company, we modernized and began to focus on digitizing traditional small and medium-sized transport companies to effectively use technology for the benefit of local and international travelers and businesses. help our transport partners to increase their market share, ”he said. .
BookMeBus does not own any vehicle and only offers technological solutions to its partners, a work which has earned it some distinctions.
Last year he won the Runway to Web Summit Award in Thailand at the Digital Thailand Big Bang event.
BookMeBus connects domestic destinations with several international cities in neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand, making it easy for foreign and domestic travelers to obtain their tickets.
Sixty transport operators now use BookMeBus, which means travelers have many options through the service.
“We have seen growth in the number of users, transactions, partners and the routes we cover. We now cover around thirty destinations with more than 300 itineraries in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. And now travelers can easily use land transport to cross the border, ”says Chea.
Chea says customers fill out a few options, like their starting point, destination, and payment method, after which their seat is guaranteed.
“Users receive their e-ticket after successful payment and they can use the e-ticket to board the transport later,” he says.
