April 2022 County Board Meeting
The Arlington County Board will consider and act on dozens of items at its regular council meeting on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. and its recess meeting on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 3 p.m.
The meetings, held in the County Council Chambers on the third floor of 2100 Clarendon Blvd., are open to the public. Visit the county’s website for more information on speaking at a county board meeting.

We will seek to accommodate visitor preferences for COVID precautions, including distancing; masking is also welcome depending on visitor preference. If you wish to comment during the public comment period at the start of the Regular Hearing, or on any item during the Regular Public Hearing, register in advance on the County Council’s website, where you can also find more details on public participation in virtual council meetings, or call the council office at 703-228-3130 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Online registration opens once the meeting agenda is posted, approximately one week before the meeting.

Saturday, April 23, 2022 – Regular County Council Meeting

PenPlace project, article n° 38. The Council will consider a proposed redevelopment of the PenPlace block in Pentagon City as part of the next phase of Amazon HQ2 for the parcel at 550 Army Navy Drive. The actions would advance plans to build four new office buildings with retail pavilions, a daycare centre, a new public park and a 300-student high school. Other community benefits include a contribution to affordable housing, transportation infrastructure improvements and a commitment to sustainable design. Council will also consider adopting the PenPlace, park master plan and design guidelines.
Clarendon Sector Plan Item #39. The Board will consider adopting certain elements of the Clarendon Area Plan, including:
- Updated 2006 plan, which includes several policy revisions and design guidelines related to future development.
- Modifications to the map and to the General Land Use Plan (PGL) booklet.
- Zoning ordinance changes to coincide with updated area plan.
Tuesday, April 26, 2022 – County Council Meeting Suspended
The recessed virtual meeting will begin at 3 p.m. with the reports of the members of the board of directors and the county director.
Item No. 42 of the county budget for the fiscal year 2023. The Board will consider passing the county’s budget resolution for the 2023 fiscal year and the appropriations resolution and the appropriations for the 2023 fiscal year. The items include:
- 2022 calendar year real estate tax rates, commercial real estate tax rates, and health district tax rates.
- Personal property tax rates for calendar year 2022 and method of allocating state vehicle tax relief for Arlington County.
- Household solid waste rate.
- Rates for DES, DPR, Fire and EMS.
- Fee for the Lee Arts Center.

No earlier than 6:30 p.m. Council will hold a public hearing and consider items from Saturday’s consent agenda. Regular public hearings will take place after the examination of the items postponed to the agenda on consent.
